A wonderful autumn vacation at the museum

During the schools’ autumn vacation, we have arranged the best possible environment for some cozy and quality family time. In the B&U workshop you can try different creative tasks inspired by Ovartaci’s universe of imagination.

Create fun collages like Ovartaci, make clothes for Ovartaci’s dolls, colour Ovartaci inspired drawings or make wrapping cards with coloured threads inspired by the colour universe of Ovartaci.

The workshop is in the back of the museum shop and is open from 10-14 every weekday. Free for children accompanied by adults.

Museum Ovartaci at World Mental Health Day on DOKK1

On Tuesday the 10th of October World Mental Health Day is marked on DOKK1. This year’s headline is: ”Mental health of kids and youths”.

This time you can meet Museum Ovartaci in the middle of the square on DOKK1 where we will present the museum’s projects focused on mental health amongst youths. Use this opportunity to have a conversation with the museum about how creativity can help mental health, what the research says, and how a museum can work with mental health.

In other words, this is a perfect opportunity to get closer to the work the museum does and hear about the initiatives, thoughts, and project currently taking place at the museum.

Open Call – Young today

Museum Ovartaci are looking for 6 young people aged 18-30 to help create an exciting environment to and for other young people with art and culture being the driving force.

Young today is the young peoples’ project. The 6 participants will make up the Youth-counsel tasked with developing events, exhibitions, performances, and concerts that speak to young people. The project “Young today” runs a duration of two years and ends in July 2025.

Read more about the project, and how you can join the team, on the museum’s website.

Smarter in 10 minutes

Back in May, Goodwill Film moved into Museum Ovartaci to record three short educational films as a part of the project “Smarter in 10 minutes”.

Each of the three films grants access to some of Ovartaci’s imaginary rooms. Even though Ovartaci lived a life with limitations and restricted freedom, he created numerous different rooms that expanded his opportunities and offered him some much-needed freedom.

Museum Vestsjælland headlined the project, where 12 amazing films from Museum Skanderborg, Viborg Museum, Museum Midtjylland, and Museum Ovartaci now are ready for an online life.

Gain access to the videos, financed by Region Midt and created for MMU – De Midtjyske Museers Udviklingsråd.

Gallo visits the garden.

5th September 15 people from the Gallo Garden in Risskov visited Museum Ovartaci and the new museum garden that was blooming.

After an introduction to the garden from museum director Mia Lejsted, the visitors examined and admired the different plants and floras. Conversations about the garden and the plants continued on the benches located around the area. For many of them, it was their first visit to the new museum and for some a lovely reunion with the garden and the plants that they themselves have planted.

The visit ended with a guided tour of the exhibitions from the brilliant guide Niels Erik followed by a cup of coffee in the children studio. A positive and enriching day for all participants.

Creative activities in the autumn holiday

In the store you will find many great ideas for some creative fun in the holidays. We have selected a few as inspiration for you in the newsletter, but please do not hesitate and come by the store to have a look by yourself.

The game Farver og Følelser is a wonderful children’s game that connects children with their parents. The game is based on the award-winning children’s author Anna Llenas universe – where children from the ages 3-4 are encouraged to talk about their and others’ feelings.

Help the confused Colour-monster and control its emotions and have a conversation with the children about when they or someone they know last felt like the monster.

Ovartaci was known to feed his guardian angel horse Sinhu with sweets. Now you can make 200 delicious sweets at home in your own kitchen, with flavours like Tutti Frutti and salted caramel. The Step-by-step sweet set contains everything you need. All you have to do is add water and sugar.

If you wish to draw and paint like Ovartaci, you will find the absolute best materials and accessories like the watercolour pad from Viking with 300-gram paper and Caran D’Ache’s wonderful toxin-free wax sticks. You can you the wax sticks with and without water – this gives you endless creative opportunities.

New colours for the wall?

Did you also fall in love with the colour scheme in the new exhibition? Now you can bring the beautiful colours back home with the colour samples from the store. The first step to changing the colours for your walls.

The beautiful Aqualinum colours in the exhibition have poetic names like Refleksion, Eventyr, Mod and Krydderi. The Aqualinum colours were created by Linolie og Pigment i Haderslev.
