John Hollensted John Hollensted was admitted to Psychiatric Hospital Risskov 95 times during the period between 1961 to 1983. He campaigned strongly for artistic exhibitions all over the hospital, both inside and outside in the hospital grounds. He exhibited many of his own works and taught art to other patients. He wanted to emphasise the importance of art in psychiatry. John Hollensted was also an extremely active artist. He produced paintings and a great number of graphic works, etchings, woodcuts, linocuts and silkscreen prints. In his graphic works he shows a great variety of motifs such as streets, alleys, folk dancing, waiting rooms, portraits . He worked with few and simple lines, which lend his pictures strength and expressivity.
