F.A.F. Strand was hospitalized from 1907 till his death in 1936 – Mainly because of serious drinking problems that triggered delusions and acts of violence, in particular towards his wife. During his stay Strand was polite and sociable and busy with his paintings and other occupations. Still, he looked at himself as unjustly treated and a martyr.
