When You Dig a Hole —you might find much more than just dirt!
Actor and satirist Rasmus Bruun sets out to dig a massive hole in his garden — using only his bare hands! Joining him is fellow satirist and music communicator Frederik Cilius, a self-proclaimed “hole expert,” who turns the project into an epic, almost mythological quest to rediscover the wisdom of ancient times.
In the new DR series The Man in the Hole, Bruun and Cilius dive deep into myths and encounters with everything from musicals and theater to Svend Brinkmann and Sørine Gotfredsen — and along the way, they also visit Museum Ovartaci and Ovartaci’s unique artistic universe.
Tune in as humor, history, and culture blend together in DR’s new series, premiering October 29.

Artist Talk with Jacob Hoff
Wednesday, November 6, 5–6 PM
How does an artist’s universe emerge – and where do we draw the line between the creator and the creation?
In this artist talk, Jacob Hoff invites the audience into the creative process behind his portrait triptych of Ovartaci’s fictional sisters: Verda, Lulu, and Pupparpasta.
Taking inspiration from Ovartaci’s own mythology, Hoff explores the relationship between artist and artwork – a space where imagination and reality intertwine. He shares how materials such as papier-mâché, fabric, and second-hand clothing become vessels for reawakening Ovartaci’s spirit, while asking: Can the figures exist without their creator – or are they trapped somewhere between the real and the unreal?
Join us for a rare glimpse into Hoff’s reflections on the abject, the present, and the haunted dimensions of Ovartaci’s world.
Admission is free with a paid museum ticket.

The Beloved Image – New Exhibition at Sorø Art Museum
Opening: Thursday, November 6, 5–7 PM
Exhibition period: November 7, 2025 – February 22, 2026
The upcoming exhibition The Beloved Image at Sorø Art Museum features a single work by Ovartaci among a rich selection of pieces spanning eras and artistic visions.
The exhibition brings together artworks that explore how we form emotional connections to images – and to one another – through them. Visitors’ own stories of cherished images also play a part in the exhibition narrative.
Sorø Art Museum invites you into a sensory and thought-provoking experience that examines our emotional bonds to images – from sacred icons to modern superstars like Marilyn Monroe. Among the highlights is a work by Ovartaci, whose intimate relationship with his sculptural figures makes him a compelling voice in this story about love and images.

Professionalism, Freedom, and Imagination – Four Interns at Museum Ovartaci
Since August, Museum Ovartaci has provided a creative and professional framework for four interns to develop their skills and interests as part of their studies. Each comes from a different educational background, bringing unique perspectives and goals to the museum.
Mie, an MA student in English at Aarhus University, is no stranger to Museum Ovartaci. Having volunteered as a guide since 2023, she is now developing new educational initiatives in English during her internship.
Anna, a history MA student also from Aarhus University, loves delving into archives – and at the museum, she gets to do just that. Her project involves uncovering forgotten or overlooked stories of patients from Risskov Psychiatric Hospital. Anna's work will form the basis of a small historical exhibition at the former hospital site.
Laura, studying Service and Experience Economy at Business Academy Aarhus, enjoys the freedom to design, plan, and run events. Her focus is on enhancing the museum’s guest experience and exploring ways to make it even more engaging.
Finally, Nynne, with a BA in Art History and now pursuing a Master’s in Journalism, contributes to the museum’s communication efforts – and is the author of this very piece.
What unites all four interns is a shared experience of trust, freedom, and appreciation for their professional skills – and a sense that Museum Ovartaci is a place where creativity truly thrives.
