Every Thursday throughout July, you can join a guided tour of the museum’s permanent exhibition and learn more about Ovartaci, the art, the stories, and the people behind them.

At Museum Ovartaci, we offer shared experiences and food for thought. We guarantee art that moves you and stories that stay with you.

Two of this summer’s guided tours will be conducted in English, making the experience accessible to international visitors as well.

Visitors under the age of 27 enjoy free admission every Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

After exploring the exhibitions, relax with a refreshment in the lounge area of our museum shop—or take home a special souvenir. As a new addition, visitors can also enjoy light meals at the café in Kulturhus Bunkeren.

Right now, you can experience 'The Line that Holds the World'—the first international solo exhibition by Chilean Art Brut artist Óscar Morales Martínez.

The exhibition presents a fascinating artistic universe where dense patterns, repetitions, symbols, and narratives emerge in works that invite both contemplation and curiosity. Each piece reveals new paths and details that gradually unfold before the viewer.

With this exhibition, Museum Ovartaci brings an important international artist to Aarhus while creating an exciting dialogue with the museum’s own collection of outsider art and works by Ovartaci.

'The Line that Holds the World' is more than an exhibition—it is an opportunity to encounter an artistic practice that few people outside Chile have had the chance to experience.

Explore Óscar Morales Martínez’s unique visual world and discover how a single line can hold an entire world together. Visitors are also invited to take a seat in the centre of the exhibition and create their own interpretation of how the world looks from their perspective.

The exhibition is on view at Museum Ovartaci until 18 October 2026.

Based on the museum’s current special exhibitions, students explore themes such as patterns, imagination, innovation, identity, community, and visions of the future—always adapted to their age group and educational level.

During late summer and autumn 2026, school groups can experience Óscar Morales Martínez’s colourful universe in The Line that Holds the World as well as Noah Umur Kanber’s first museum solo exhibition. The programmes combine art experiences, dialogue, and hands-on workshops where students can create, investigate, and reflect.

On Thursday, 10 September 2026, Museum Ovartaci invites you to an evening of calm, reflection, and creativity inspired by the exhibition “The Line that Holds the World” by Óscar Morales Martínez.

The evening includes an introduction to the exhibition, a light sandwich meal, and a mindfulness and mandala workshop where guided exercises and colouring activities focus on presence, stress reduction, and mental balance.

Museum Ovartaci explores these questions through the research and outreach project 'Your Ovartaci', where we collect stories from people who met or knew Ovartaci. Perhaps you have a memory, anecdote, or experience that could contribute to a more nuanced understanding of the person behind the name.

Every story matters—even the small, everyday ones. A brief encounter, a conversation, an observation, or a story passed on by others may help shed new light on Ovartaci’s life and work.

We are not interested in information that may be subject to confidentiality obligations, including details about health conditions.
